The People's Hurricane:  An Allegory for Reform

Hurricane Bill is
On the way
We’ll see the waves
By Saturday

Straight to the north
Projected path
Sparing most
It’s awesome wrath

Oh, Mr. Bill
Please change your course
Wipe out our city’s
Criminal force

Come closer to
New York’s fine coast
And kill the ones
That steal the most

Make our town
A pretty place
Wipe out Wall Street
At your pace

Cleanse our land
Of evil greed
With winds and rains
Of awesome speed

Wash away
Capitalism’s scourge
Bring our seas
To sudden surge

Of insurance
Companies
Send them to hell
To end their squeeze

When you cause
The thieves to drown
We’ll draw up plans
For new downtown

Houses built
Made to afford
Organic farms
To feed the horde

New commerce
We will regulate
With ethics
And a brand new slate

Banks will serve
The peoples’ needs
And we will plant
New justice-seeds

So that’s my wish
Upon this hour
To witness
Nature’s vengeful power!

Enjoy your trip
Along our shore
I hope to hear
your thunder roar!
