The Fairy's Muse

Said fairy to the goldfinch,
"Just one more song for me?
You breathe better magic
Than any melody.

That I have heard in garden faire
From human-kind or bird
Your thrilling innovations
To me are much preferred.

Your phrasing, so immaculate
Your rhythms are profound
From which master's sage baton
Did you learn this sound?

Performances, so dazzling!
You command the stage with flare!
The musical awareness

You demonstrate is rare.

You have an aire of confidence
I love your golden tone
Gaia's loving summer son
You do not perch alone.

Serenade me, spirit
For I am yours this day
I'm listening to every note
That in my heart will stay.

If you are feeling restless
And need to take to wing
I'll fly through any woodland
Just to hear you sing!

If you feel like listening
The audience, your choice
I wrote for you this bit of verse

Perhaps you'll hear my voice."
