Share the Health!

If life were but a nickle
And I could always laugh
If a burger cost two cents
I’d give my friend a half

If fun would cost a dime
And I had twice that much
I’d spread the cheer to everyone
Generosity…that's Dutch

If I had but a quarter
And had not much to do
I’d sing my songs for all to hear
Until we said “adieu”

If my pocket owned a dollar
The sun was shining in the park
I’d make a picnic on the greens
And share stories until dark

If I was honored by a fiver
And a bottle in my pack
I’d drink wine with anyone
And ask for nothing back

Should god bless me with a ten
To get me through the day
I'd see a movie matinee
And give the rest away

If somehow I had twenty bucks
In a perfect world
I’d bet it all in one foul swoop
Until love for all unfurled

If I would sacrifice my gains
For my fellow man
Can my country’s government
Create a sound health plan?

If wealth is shared with common sense
And people could breathe free
The world would be a better place
With so much less debris

It won’t take much sacrifice
To care for all in need
It requires just your blessings
And diminishment of greed.
