While you were Sleeping by Su Blackwell©2004

The Magical Paper Art of Su Blackwell

Night Shift

Who dances while I slumber?
And shifts the twilight breeze
O, restless apparition
Visit, as you please.

What ethereal image
So touching to my heart
Glides across my hallway

Some message to impart?

If she be of fairy kind
That penetrates my dreams
Let me collect the fabric
That gently leaves her seams.

Gather all your memories
And bring them into one
For I would be so saddened
To see your gown undone.

What disturbs eternal rest
Is something incomplete?
I'll do my best to understand
By bedside, take your seat

Perhaps we'll stitch together
Discover why you bleed
I'll be your faithful tailor
And listen if you need.
