The Cat on the Canal

I'm so envious of your life
And where you get to play
I'd happily trade places
I'll be there yesterday

Along the peaceful waterways
You haunt the streets I love
My spirit-fathers know the place
I'm always thinking of

The X's three are in my heart
The Lion in my soul
I want to be where you are
And journey where you stroll

Maybe I will make it back
Create a tiny space
Write some middle chapters
To my tapestry add lace

Oh little friend, I hear you purr
I share your point-of-view
Enjoy your fine perspective
We both will see it through

How lucky that you hear the bells
Of the friendly tram
That rumbles past your window
O, cat from Amsterdam
